About

Welcome to my portfolio

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about my service portfolio.

On this page, I'd like to share my educational background and professional experience that apply across many of the services I offer. My foundation in the hospitality industry extends far beyond a degree. It is deeply rooted in the culture I grew up in—the Philippines.

Filipino culture is widely recognized for its warmth, compassion, and hospitality. These qualities have helped make Filipinos one of the world's leading workforces in both the healthcare and hospitality industries. In the United States alone, Filipino nurses make up approximately 4% to 5% of all registered nurses and account for an estimated 27% to 33% of all foreign-born registered nurses. It is often said that almost every Filipino family has at least one nurse or healthcare professional, many of whom choose to pursue career opportunities abroad.

The same dedication can be seen in the hospitality industry. From luxury hotels and restaurants to cruise ships, airlines, maritime services, and land-based tourism, Filipinos continue to be highly sought after around the world for their professionalism, strong work ethic, and genuine hospitality.

With that background, I have been fortunate to build experience in both industries. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management in Manila, Philippines, and later took some pre-nursing coursework in New York, USA.

I also grew up in our family's food and beverage business, which evolved from a neighborhood bakery into a café, cafeteria, concessionaire, and catering operation. Throughout my career, I have managed various hospitality operations, including fast-food restaurants, semi-fine dining establishments, banquet services, front desk operations, bar service, and stewarding, both in the Philippines and overseas.

In 2008, while taking a break from pursuing my Master's Degree in Psychology in Manila, I took a one-week solo vacation to Thailand. That trip introduced me to the world of female solo backpacking. I met incredible women from different parts of the world who welcomed me into the community, encouraged me, and taught me the ropes.

I returned to the Philippines inspired and eager to learn more. In 2010, I launched my travel blog to answer the many questions my friends and family had about solo travel. As I continued traveling throughout Southeast Asia, I supported my journeys through volunteer opportunities that included complimentary accommodations and tours. Along the way, I was repeatedly offered English teaching positions. Although the timing wasn't right at first, I kept the idea in mind while continuing to explore every Southeast Asian country, with the exception of Timor-Leste, which officially joined ASEAN in 2025.

In 2012, I completed my TEFL certification and moved to Thailand to begin my teaching career. I initially worked on government education projects in rural communities before accepting a position with Suratthani Technical College and the American Academy (AMA Suratthani) as an English Teacher, Academic Manager, and Operations Manager. I remained there until March 2015 before relocating to the United States.
